How it works

Why sound reaches the places words cannot

Sound healing, also called vibrational therapy, is an ancient practice that uses specific sounds, frequencies and vibrations to bring the body, mind and spirit back into balance.

Soft ripples moving across a calm water surface

The idea behind it

Your body is about 70% water

Water lives inside every cell, flows through our blood and lymph, and cushions the brain and spine. It keeps us warm, carries nutrients and supports nearly every process in the body.

Water is highly responsive to vibration. When sound moves through it, water forms patterns, a phenomenon known as cymatics. Sound healers see this as one reason sound touches us so deeply: when a bowl sings, you do not only hear it, you feel it through the water that makes up most of you.

Four layers of healing

Sound works on every layer of you

A symptom is often a signal from a deeper layer. Sound healing works gently on all four, restoring harmony at every level of your being.

  1. 01

    The physical body

    Where symptoms show up first

    What you may notice
Headaches, back pain and neck tension. Fatigue, body aches or digestive trouble. Poor sleep.
    What it can mean
Stress and emotional burdens settle into muscles, joints and organs, and an overloaded nervous system struggles to run smoothly.
    How sound helps
Resonance from singing bowls softens muscle tension, and the body drops into a deep, restful state where it can repair.
  2. 02

    The emotional body

    Where unprocessed feelings stay

    What you may notice
Mood swings, anxiety or irritability. Feeling heavy or overwhelmed. Unexplained sadness, or tears that come easily.
    What it can mean
Grief, anger and fear can be held in the body, around the heart, stomach and throat, showing up as tightness or shallow breathing.
    How sound helps
Sound moves beneath the thinking mind. Deep vibration helps release held emotion and supports the shift from stress to calm.
  3. 03

    The mental body

    Where overthinking takes over

    What you may notice
Racing thoughts and overanalysing. Mental exhaustion and poor focus. Loops of negative thinking.
    What it can mean
Too much time in fast, high-stress brainwaves, and too little in the slower states of rest, creativity and problem-solving.
    How sound helps
Low tones from gongs and deep bowls invite the brain to slow down, clearing fog and making room for clarity and intuition.
  4. 04

    The energy body

    The root of your vitality

    What you may notice
Feeling stuck, drained or disconnected from life. Low energy and little motivation.
    What it can mean
In the yogic view, the chakras, your energy centres, are blocked and prana, your life force, cannot flow freely.
    How sound helps
Different frequencies correspond to different chakras, helping stagnant energy move and bringing each centre back into balance.

Brainwaves

From racing thoughts to deep rest

Most of the day we live in fast Beta waves. The long, low tones of a sound bath invite the brain to slow into Theta and Delta, the states of deep relaxation, creativity and restoration.

BetaBusy, alert, overthinking. Where most of us spend the day.
ThetaDeep relaxation, creativity and intuition. Where a sound bath takes you.
DeltaDeep rest and restoration. The state the body heals in.

What happens in a session

No effort, no skill. Just come, relax, and let sound do the healing. Sessions last 45 to 60 minutes.

  1. 01

    Settle in and get comfortable

Lie down on a mat in a calm, held space, or at home for an online session.

  2. 02

    Experience the sound

Singing bowls, gongs and chimes wash over you in slow, layered waves.

  3. 03

    Deep relaxation and energy reset

As sound harmonises the body, stress begins to dissolve.

  4. 04

    Emerge lighter

You leave refreshed, rebalanced and quietly clear.

Sound healing is a complementary practice that supports relaxation and wellbeing. It works alongside medical care and does not replace diagnosis or treatment.
